If you run the free Mandiant Redline tool and try to copy a line and it is generating the error:

Operation Failed
OpenClipboard Failed (Exception from HRESULT: …..(CLIPBRD_E_CANT_OPEN))

It might be worth to deactivate the Shared clipboard in your Windows VM.
